Is there public transportation?
The closest train station is Windermere. From there, the 555 bus takes you to Ambleside and the 505 bus takes you to Coniston village. We will try to help facilitate ride shares from Windermere where possible, but this can't be guaranteed.

You must present ID and your ticket on arrival. Other than that, please bring a sleeping bag or bedding (we have a limited number of sleeping bags that we can provide so please contact us if you are not able to bring your own bedding).  If planning to hike, appropriate clothing and footwear is essential, including sturdy waterproof boots, warm layers and a waterproof jacket and trousers. Please bring a water bottle to fill if going off site.

What do you recommend doing during the day?
There are plenty of walks straight from the hut of varying lengths and levels of difficulty. We encourage Bothy Weekenders to team up and enjoy the surrounding hills, or perhaps take a trip into Coniston which a short car ride or a 30 minute walk from the hut. We will have some printed maps available to use during the event.
